Phil Jackson will attempt to lead the New York Knicks to NBA title glory

The New York Knicks have announced that Phil Jackson has been named president of basketball operations.
The 68-year-old won a record 11 NBA titles as a coach and he will now take his first front office position.
The former Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers coach has been put in charge of all basketball decisions for the Knicks and was introduced at a Madison Square Garden press conference on Tuesday.
Jackson was drafted as a player by the Knicks and won championships with the team in 1970 and 1973, which was the last time they won the NBA title.
As a coach, he won six championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s and then added five titles with the Los Angeles Lakers, his most recent coming in 2010.
The Knicks are currently in the midst of a disappointing season, having reached the semi-finals of the Eastern Conference playoffs in 2012-13.
They currently have a record of 27-40 and are four games behind Atlanta in the race for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, but they have won their last six games.

Knicks hope to retain Anthony

Knicks owner Jim Dolan said: "There is only one Phil Jackson and he is synonymous with winning basketball teams.
"His history of success in the NBA is unrivalled and he is the ideal executive to lead our team and develop short and long term plans that build a successful franchise and result in an NBA championship.
"That is our only goal, and what our loyal fans deserve."
Jackson said: "I am going to jump in with both feet. We want to build a team and this is the best place to play basketball.
"To come back to the place where I started in basketball is a great feeling.
"I take the task of helping to deliver a winning team to our fans seriously and look forward to combining my vision of the game with Steve Mills' abilities as a general manager."
The Knicks are hoping the hiring of Jackson will improve their chances of keeping key player Carmelo Anthony, who is looking at free agency after this season.
"Carmelo is one of the top scorers in the league," Jackson said. "I have no problem saying Carmelo is in the future plans.
"He still has another level he can go to."
