Sheffield Steelers have sacked coach Doug Christiansen as head coach

Sheffield Steelers have sacked coach Doug Christiansen less than halfway through his two-year contract after enduring an inconsistent season.
The 35-year-old American took over in the summer after leaving Elite League rivals Belfast Giant who he guided to the title in 2011-12.
Christiansen's last game in charge saw his side suffer a 5-3 defeat to Nottingham Panthers in the Challenge Cup semi-final first leg at Sheffield Arena on Wednesday night.
Steelers currently sit third in the Elite League, 21 points behind runaway leaders Belfast.
Captain Steven Goertzen has taken over as temporary player-coach.
