NFL: Washington Redskins sign former Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has agreed to join NFC East rivals Washington Redskins.

The three-time Pro Bowl receiver was released by the Philadelphia Eagles last week amid concerns about his attitude and off-field activity.
The NFC East rival Redskins will add him to an offense that features quarterback Robert Griffin III and NFL receptions leader Pierre Garcon.
Jackson spent much of Tuesday at Redskins Park while his agent and the agent negotiated with the Redskins front office. Late Tuesday, Jackson tweeted: "ITS GOIN DOWN !! BURGUNDY & GOLD".
Jackson set career-highs with 82 catches for 1,332 yards last season for the NFC East champion Eagles, but Philadelphia tried to trade him and then cut him last week amid reports of off-the-field concerns.

Jackson issued a statement denying he was associated with gang activity, but that and a hefty $10m salary for the coming season meant the Eagles found it too much of a gamble to keep him.
It meant the 27-year-old was cut loose just two years after signing a new five-year deal with the Eagles, and with his career having something of a revival under new head coach Chip Kelly.
There was plenty of interest in Jackson once he hit the open market, as he is one of the best receivers in the game and few have his speed and big play-making ability, both on offence and also in the return game when needed.
Fotrmer coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs has looked his way, while the San Francisco 49ers had also been looking his way, but in the end Jackson has decided to remain in the NFC East - and could come back to haunt his old team in their two games against Washington next season.
After a poor season last year when RGIII suffered a sophmore slump, he all of a sudden has a great chance of a massive comeback given the influence Jackson could have on the offence, in tandem with fellow speedster Garcon they form arguably the fastest receiving duo in the NFL.
Throw in the signing of slot man Andre Roberts from Arizona, their Pro Bowl running back Alfred Morris and athletic tight end Jordan Reed and the pieces are there for Washington to be a complete different animal next season.
