Detroit Red Wings claim early lead in play-off series with Boston Bruins

Pavel Datsyuk netted the only goal as the Detroit Red Wings took a 1-0 lead over Boston Bruins in their Eastern Conference play-off.
Datsyuk broke the deadlock with 3:01 left in regulation when he skilfully reached back to collect a pass and sent a snap shot past Boston goalie Tuukka Rask.
Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard made 25 saves, including a crucial stop on a tip by Bruins' Milan Lucic and the defending Eastern Conference champions could not find a leveller.
Elsewhere, the Montreal Canadiens cruised to a 4-1 win over Tampa Bay Lightning after Rene Bourque scored a double.
David Desharnais opened the scoring for Montreal and further goals from Bourque and Brendan Gallagher gave them a commanding lead.
Bourque completed the Canadiens' tally before Teddy Purcell pulled one back for Tampa Bay, who trail 2-0 in the best-of-seven first-round series.
