Another Manchester United youngster currently out on loan is Jesse Lingard, who was sent off in Birmingham's 0-0 draw at Wigan today. However, Birmingham boss Lee Clark is hoping the forward will extend his loan at St Andrew's.

He's been terrific for us but he'll pick up a three-match ban now and his loan will expire in the middle of that. I tried to put some earmuffs on the other day when I heard David Moyes talking about bringing some of his loan players back to Old Trafford. Hopefully I can persuade David that the best thing for Manchester United is that his development will be better served here.

After today's 1-0 defeat at Chelsea in the Premier League, Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has reiterated his intention to sign a striker in the January transfer window, with Michu injured and Wilfried Bony not yet at full fitness.

I think we are a little short now, because we are talking about the injuries. It is not just two weeks, we are talking several weeks. We have a couple of important injuries for a longer time and that is why maybe we have to do something in January.
