Scans confirm Gerrard injury blow

Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard will be out for up to six weeks after scans confirmed the extent of his hamstring injury.

Gerrard, 33, limped off during the second half of Saturday’s 4-1 Premier League win over West Ham.
He is expected to be absent until mid-January, and could miss anything up to eight matches, sources told ESPN.
The midfielder will be unavailable for this Sunday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham, as well as tricky fixtures at Manchester City and Chelsea later in December.
He will also miss Liverpool’s FA Cup third round tie at home versus Oldham or Mansfield in early January.
Gerrard’s absence is a significant blow to manager Brendan Rodgers, who has lost striker Daniel Sturridge until late January with an ankle problem, and left-back Jose Enrique -- who is recovering from knee surgery -- until February.
Rodgers is more hopeful over the fitness of Jordan Henderson, who is expected to recover from ankle trouble in time for the game at Tottenham.
The England international was injured during last Saturday’s win over West Ham when he was stamped on by midfielder Kevin Nolan, who was later sent off.
Henderson has been wearing a protective boot since then, but Liverpool believe he has only suffered bruising to his ankle and should recover by the weekend.
