The Pittsburgh Penguins overcame the absence of
several players to notch their fourth straight victory with a 3-1
defeat of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The sides were level at 1-1
with just over six minutes remaining when Sidney Crosby collected a
centre from Pascal Dupuis and fired home to boost his points total to a
league-leading 47.Chris Conner and Brandon Sutter also netted for the Penguins, who were missing the likes of forward Evgeni Malkin.
Morgan Rielly scored the first goal of his career for the Maple Leafs.
Meanwhile, Cody Ceci scored his first NHL goal four minutes into overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 win over the St Louis Blues.
Ceci latched on to a clearance by the Blues and fired in a wrist shot that beat goalie Brian Elliott.
Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Bobby Ryan scored in regulation for the Senators, while Chris Stewart netted twice for the Blues late in the second period.
Colorado's Paul Stastny scored twice and added two assists to power the Avalanche to a 6-2 win over Dallas.
Evander Kane returned from injury to score a goal and add an assist to lead the Winnipeg Jets to a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
