EIHL: Belfast Giants move seven-points clear after beating Sheffield Steelers

Belfast Giants stretched their lead to seven points at the top of the Elite League with a 5-2 home win over Sheffield Steelers.
With second-placed Braehead Clan beaten at home in a Scottish derby by lowly Fife Flyers, Belfast's third successive win allowed them to take advantage.
Colin Shields and Robby Sandrock both scored twice for Belfast, with Kevin Saurette also on target, while Sheffield's response came in the shape of strikes from Steven Goertzen and Drew Fata.
Fife needed overtime to earn their 7-6 win over Braehead, in which Bobby Chaumont scored a hat-trick in the victorious cause. Chaumont's fellow Canadian Danny Stewart scored the overtime clincher.
Another treble from a Canadian, Jereme Tendler, eased Hull Stingrays to a 7-1 win against bottom-of-the-pile Edinburgh Capitals, while Cardiff Devils overcame Nottingham Panthers by a 4-2 margin.
